Eclectic House Note 'Chiaroscuro' with a KINEGRAM COLORS® Registered Stripe and KURZ THREAD
At the Global Currency Forum 2022, Oumolat Security Printing LLC presented their new ‘Chiaroscuro’ house note, to which KURZ contributed two principal features – an intricately designed KINEGRAM COLORS® Registered Stripe and a windowed security thread with eye-catching movement effects. The name of the note originates from the Italian word ’Chiaroscuro’, describing the artistic treatment of and contrast between light (‘chiaro’) and dark (’oscuro’). The note incorporates a stunning interplay of light and shadow combining traditional colors.
On the front, ornate patterns in intaglio print surround a transparent window at their center, allowing light to pass through. An enchanting, 17 mm wide KINEGRAM COLORS® registered stripe exhibits eye-catching golden and blue colors, which are positioned in perfect register to the partial metallization. The ornamental design is perfectly set in scene by a swish radial KINEGRAM® FLUX effect and colorful fine line movements.
On the reverse, a poem written by the Founder of the UAE, H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, is incorporated, recounting how after darkness comes the light. Conceived by the talented Swiss designer Andreas Iten, the Chiaroscuro note is printed on the paper-polymer composite substrate Durasafe® from Landqart AG.
The project illustrates the effortless compatibility of KURZ THREADS with composite substrates. In this note, the security thread by KURZ displays, on a width of 4.5 mm, multiple colorful globes containing Arabic letters. The colorful radial movements in shades of turquoise create a hypnotic and unique visual effect.
This house note is the result of a fruitful collaboration between Oumolat, KURZ, and various suppliers within the banknote industry. It beautifully showcases the use of KURZ’s latest technologies for producing outstanding results in terms of design and security.
