Best New Banknote awarded to UAE’s 500 Dirham Note featuring KINEGRAM COLORS®
KURZ is proud to celebrate a win with the Central Bank of UAE for its 500 Dirham banknote, which has been recognized as Best New Banknote in the Regional Banknote and ID Document of the Year Awards 2025, presented at the High Security Printing EMEA Conference. This accolade showcases outstanding achievements in banknote design, security and innovation across the region.
The winning 500 AED note stands out for its advanced security features, including the integration of KINEGRAM COLORS®, a groundbreaking technology developed by KURZ. This feature allows striking visual effects with multiple colors to be added to security foils, resulting in standout, finely detailed elements that are instantly recognizable and intuitive to verify.
This is the fifth banknote in the Central Bank’s new all-polymer series and tells the story of sustainability in the UAE, highlighting cultural and tourist landmarks including the Museum of the Future in Dubai, and the iconic Burj Khalifa and Emirates Towers. The KINEGRAM COLORS® stripe is applied over a window in the polymer substrate and depicts Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.
