Highest Accolades for Banknotes with KINEGRAM®

The High Security Print Regional Banknote of the Year Awards have yet again shown that KURZ technology is the essential element for banknotes. All winners in the category ‘Best New Banknote’ are equipped with a KINEGRAM® feature by KURZ. The awards were presented in a virtual ceremony held by Reconnaissance on 16th of December 2021.

KURZ extends warmest congratulations to all winning Central Banks and Partners!

We are proud to be an important contributor to the security of all these banknotes, and we highly appreciate the confidence that was placed in us by our Central Bank customers and Project Partners. It is the strongest incentive for KURZ to keep up our commitment to pioneering banknote security.

For EMEA, the best new banknote is the new English 50 Pound polymer banknote, which is equipped with a highly sophisticated KINEGRAM COLORS® feature. Asia’s Regional Banknote of the Year is the Australian 100 Dollar bill, with a KINEGRAM ZERO.ZERO® stripe over window as its key security feature. For Latin America, the Regional Banknote of the year Award goes to the 20,000 Colónes banknote of Costa Rica. The note uses an upgraded version of the KINEGRAM REVIEW® technology with a registered image both on the front of the foil as well as the reverse side. The 10,000 and 20,000 Colónes of Costa Rica have also been awarded as part of the Regional Banknote Series of the Year for Latin America.

Each of the winning banknotes is based on a polymer substrate, which lends itself particularly well to surface-applied foil features. KURZ is the principal supplier of such features, while KINEGRAM® elements from KURZ are also securing paper- and composite-substrate banknotes around the world.
